A two-year-old child was seriously injured after the Nano car he was travelling in along with his family members overturned near the Sector 16/17 light point. Other persons travelling in the car also suffered injuries in the accident.
Sources said the car was being driven by Jatinder. His father Balak Ram was sitting next to him, along with Jatinder’s son Ekam. Jatinder’s wife and another person were sitting on the rear seat.
Sources said the car went out of control and hit the road divider before hitting an electricity pole and getting overturned. Ekam was seriously injured in the incident. He was rushed to the PGI where he is undergoing treatment.
Ekam was in the lap of his grandfather, Balak Ram. Ekam fell out of the car leading to severe head injury.
The incident took place when the family was returning to Kishangarh after performing pooja at their recently purchased residential plot in Mohali.
Three other siblings of Ekam, including two real sisters – Ridhika and Pridhi – along with his cousin, Nitin, were sitting on the rear seat with Kiran Devi, mother of the injured boy.
The matter is under investigation at the Sector 17 police station.
