<p style="text-align: justify; "><span style="line-height: 1.42857;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Chandigarh:</span> Chandigarh: Union Territory of Chandigarh has been conferred with the award for outstanding performance during the Digital India week. The award was presented by Union Minister for </span><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad at a function being organised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (IT) in Delhi on 28th December 2015. </span></p><p style="text-align: justify; ">The Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) through this award has recognized the e-governance initiatives of Chandigarh under taken during the Digital India week held from 1st July to 7th July 2015 under the leadership of Secretary, I.T., Dr. S.B. Deepak Kumar, IAS and Director I.T., Sh. Prince Dhawan, IAS. </p><p style="text-align: justify; ">Digital India Week (DIW) was celebrated all over India and during the week Department of IT & SPIC undertook various Chandigarh specific key e-governance initiatives. The week long campaign involved the following activities- </p><p style="text-align: justify; "></p><ul><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">Launch of <span style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="https://panchkulasamachar.com/e-stamping-service-launched-in-chandigarh">E-Stamping</a></span> in Chandigarh in all sampark centres of Chandigarh which replaced the system of physical stamp papers, </span><br></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">Launch of digital locker at large scale for the citizens of chandigarh with enrolment drive to <span style="font-weight: bold;">“<a href="https://panchkulasamachar.com/digital-india-week-digilocker-enrolment-drive">DigiLocker</a>”</span> across all e-Sampark Centers of U.T. Chandigarh. </span><br></li></ul><p></p><p style="text-align: justify; ">Department of IT also conducted an exclusive awareness campaign on Information Security & Education Awareness. <span style="line-height: 1.42857;">In order to augment connectivity in rural areas, NOFN project was launched under which all 12 Gram Panchayats were connected with Optical Fiber. </span></p><p style="text-align: justify; ">Further adding to its initiatives citizen centric mobile apps -‘mobileRLA’ and ‘mSampark’ were launched. This apps have received overwhelming response from the residents since their launch. </p><p style="text-align: justify; ">Dr.S.B Deepak Kumar,IAS, Secretary Information Technology lauded the efforts of the Department of IT and SPIC undertaken during the digital India week. He said “ Our endeavour has been to leverage IT in improving life of every resident. This award is an appreciation of the efforts that we have undertaken and will motivate us to undertake initiatives which will bring citizens to the center stage of governance.” </p><p style="text-align: justify; ">Mr. Prince Dhawan, IAS, Director Information Technology said “It is a turning point for the city beautiful which is embarking upon its journey to becoming a Smart City. This award is an recognition for the efforts undertaken by the Chandigarh Administration in improving the citizen services. We are also working towards newer initiatives which will be launched in the near future “It is pertinent to note that Department of I.T. has been performing very well in recent days with the change in leadership. Including the present award, the DIT has now bagged at least 6 prestigious national awards for good work in the area of e-governance. </p><p style="text-align: justify; ">These are as follows-</p><p style="text-align: justify; "><span style="font-weight: bold;">1</span>. CSI-Nihilent e-Governance award for year 2014-15 which is one of the most coveted award in the country under the category of State for Sustained Excellence</p><p style="text-align: justify; "><span style="font-weight: bold;">2</span>. 4 Skotch awards have been awarded 4 under the various category of Smart governance at Skoch Order-of-Merit i.e. for e-Sampark (category: service delivery), e-campus, College Management System( Category: Service Delivery), C-TOSS:- Chandigarh- Training on Soft Skills (Category: Skill Development) and Campus Wide Area Network at GMCH, <span style="line-height: 1.42857;">Sector -32, Chandigarh ( Category: Infrastructure).</span></p><div style="text-align: justify; "><br></div>
