Chandigarh: On the 70th anniversary of independence, Chandigarh wing of Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday organized a massive ‘Tiranga Yatra’. The Yatra started from party Headquarter ‘Kamlam’ in Sector 33, Chandigarh and passed through Sector 20, 30, 29, 28, 27, 19, 18, 17, 22, 16, 15, 14, 24, 25, 37, 36, 35, 34 and culminated at Sector 33, Chandigarh.
Party activists riding on scooter, motorcycle, car, jeep and tractors and carrying national flags and party flags participated in the Tiranga Yatra. Party activists raised slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Vande Mataram’. Yatra was welcomed at various places by the local residents and other associations.
Addressing party activists Chandigarh BJP President Sanjay Tandon thanked all the party activists for their massive participation in the Tiranga yatra and said such types of yatras are being held throughout country to celebrate 70th anniversary of Independence. Chandigarh unit also organized Tiranga yatra at Mandal level in all the wards. Under the series of celebrations, Yuva Morcha organized Mashal Yatra, Mahila Morcha celebrated Rakhi with defence personnel and ex-army men. Besides this patriotic movie ‘Sardar The Iron Man of India’ was screened for the party activists at ‘Kamlam’.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed all the party activists to celebrate 70th anniversary of Independence to remember those martyrs who are still unknown. Their sacrifice for the nation should be highlighted.
