Dust-storm Hits Chandigarh 33 Flights Cancelled

Flight operations have been suspended at the Chandigarh airport due to poor visibility following dust storm.

All the 33 flights, including 3 international flights, arriving and departing off from the Chandigarh International Airport were cancelled on Thursday due to low visibility. Both the taking off and landing off flights has been stalled due to bad weather conditions.

Chandigarh International Airport Limited’s official spokesperson Deepesh Joshi also said the same that air carriers had decided to cancel the flights due to bad weather conditions. Meanwhile, another Air India flight which was stuck at the Chandigarh Airport, is supposed to have transported the passengers from Chandigarh to Delhi through luxury buses so that they may get connecting flights to Sharjah, Dubai and Bangkok respectively. An Air India official confirmed the same.

On the other hand, other flight operators have refunded the tickets of nearly 4,000 passengers who were headed to various other places from the Chandigarh International Airport.

Delhi’s air quality degraded beyond severe level and it was predicted that dusty conditions were likely to prevail over the next three days. Following the alert, the ministry alerted major construction agencies, municipal corporations and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to ensure water sprinkling throughout the national capital.
