CTU resumes bus services on 16 routs, only 13 passengers per bus

Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has resumed the operations of Non-AC local buses initially within Chandigarh. A flat rate of Rs. 20/- per ticket has been fixed to travel within tricity. Today 47 buses were run on 16 routes as per following detail:

Permission has been sought by Chandigarh Administration from Punjab & Haryana Government to run the local buses operation in peripheral areas falling within their respective jurisdictions. After receiving permissions,the operations will be scaled up to run 159 buses on 52 routes from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily in tricity. Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) as per following has been put into place to ensure the safe transport for people as well as CTU staff:

  • All the buses will be sanitized twice in a day in morning and evening.
  • Thermal screening will be done at entry Points of ISBTs for passengers and for bus crew in depots.

  • Re usable Masks have been issued to drivers and conductors.In addition gloves & face shields have been issued to the conductors.
  • Sanitizer bottle is made available in the buses for usage of crew as well as passengers.

  • Seating capacity as 13 passengers for 9.0 mtr and 17 passengers for 12.0 mtr respectively and stickers have been fixed on seats where passengers will be allowed to sit as per social distancing norms.
  • No passenger will be allowed to board the bus without wearing a mask.
  • The entry for the passengers in the bus will be made through rear door and Exit through front door and labels will be fixed in this regard at the appropriate places.
  • Marking has been done art local counters in ISBT to maintain the social distancing
