The Haryana Police has issued an advisory requesting the jewellers, banks, gold loan companies as well as other establishments where cash transactions are more, to make sure that anyone entering in the premises will have to take off mask once in front of CCTV installed in order to prevent crime on the guise of face cover.
An order to this effect has been issued by the Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana Sh. Manoj Yadava to all district Police Chiefs (CPs and SPs) asking them to circulate the same in their respective jurisdiction with jewelers/banks/gold finance companies etc. for being displayed at the door of the such premises.
The DGP informed that wearing of face masks in work and public places have been made compulsory by the government in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with the gradual opening up of the lockdown, there is a possibility of criminal elements taking advantage of the trying times by wearing face masks. Not only known habitual offenders, but new criminals could also indulge in anti-social activities like theft/robbery. If any unfortunate incident happens, the criminals can be apprehended with the help of the photograph captured in the CCTV cameras.
Apart from this, he also advised people against carrying a lot of cash while going out.
At the same time, all the jewelers and other establishments must install CCTV cameras as anti-social elements or culprit cannot be identified due to face cover. Those who have already installed must keep them in moving conditions. People should reach out to police immediately at Police Control Room number 100, whenever required.
