Chandigarh admn declares four new containment zones

The UT administration has declared a few houses in Mariwala Town in Manimajra, sector-15, sector-56 and sector-40 as containment zones.

The decision was taken in the war room review meeting, chaired by Punjab governor and UT administrator, here on Friday.

Following affected zones are declared as containment zones:

  1. Block of 13 houses from House No.2403 to 2413 in Mariwala Town, Manimajra, Chandigarh
  2. Block of 11 houses from House No.491 to 495 and 501 to 506 in Sector 15, Chandigarh
  3. Block of 32 flats from House No 6445 to 6448-C and House No. 6449 to 6452-C in Sector 56, Chandigarh.
  4. Block of 6 houses from House No. 1613 to 1618 (Ground Floors only) in Sector 40, Chandigarh

UT adviser Manoj Parida also direct that regular screening and monitoring of the areas by medical teams will continue. Frequent sanitization of the areas by Municipal Authorities will be conducted and the residents will be advised to strictly maintain social distancing norms, wear masks and follow hand hygiene.

In view of the sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in July, the UT administration decided to demarcate micro containment zones and directed the Affected Area Committee to identify such areas. Under the policy, even three to four houses within a sector or colony can be designated as micro containment zones.
