Daughter’s Day celebrations at British School

The British School, Panchkula celebrated National Daughter’s Day with the girl students of the school.

School Principal, Ms.Anita Mehra speaking on the occasion addressed the students and told them that to be born as a girl child is a unique blessing in itself and hence gives a reason to celebrate. To highlight this fact an entire day is dedicated to the girls, popularly celebrated as Daughter’s Day.

School Director, Ms.Geetika Sethi said, “It is the need of the hour to realise the fact that daughters are a reason to celebrate. They bring happiness and prosperity in the lives of the parents. In today’s times it is very important to make the people aware that a girl child in equal to a boy and should be treated and respected like boys. We should teach the boys to honour the existence of the females.”

On this day, we should all pledge to give the girls the deserved attention and respect. We should vow to create the awareness about how women in our world experience sexual, emotional, psychological, spiritual and cultural violence as well as verbal and financial abuse and neglect. All forms of violence against women are wrong. And all can be equally damaging. Treating women equally, and with fairness and respect, will go a long way to prevent any of these types of violence.

Providing them education and equal opportunities will go a long way in the development of a country. We want every girl to believe in herself and realize that she matters. That will be the true celebration of National Daughter’s Day.
