Another rape case came to light in Panchkula after a 20-year-old girl accused a man of raping her on the pretext of marriage. A resident of Budhanpur, the girl is stated to have an affair with another Budhanpur resident of the same age. The accused originally hails from Rajasthan.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anil Kumar Dhawan, when the accused refused to marry her, the girl approached the police and got an FIR registered under Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the all- woman police station in Sector 5 of Mansa Devi Complex on Saturday. The DCP said the accused had been arrested.
Pertinently, this is the 12th rape case reported in Panchkula this year. However, the police had dismissed three as “false”. The rape of an engineering student, who was abducted from Sector 20, remains unsolved as the police failed to find anything substantial.
