<p style=”text-align: justify; “>In a major breakthrough the Crime Branch Chandigarh Police succeeded in nabbing a notorious gang of Auto Lifters who are active in the area of Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Rajpura, Patiala, Yamuna Nagar and New Delhi and from them 36 stolen vehicles were recovered. Apart from this 15 such vehicles have been identified which were stolen from Delhi and were sold to a scrap dealer in Malout and this scrap dealer further dismantled these vehicles and sold it in parts.<br></p><p style=”text-align: justify; “>The police said on a tip-off, an accused, identified as Chanpreet Singh, alias Channi, a resident of Delhi, was arrested with a stolen Lancer car bearing a fake registration number. Channi was earlier arrested by the Panchkula police and was out on bail.</p><p style=”text-align: justify; “>Further investigation led to the arrest of other gang members, identified as Dhanwinder Sharma and Harpreet Singh, both residents of Ambala City, Sher Singh, a resident of Kakroli village in Kurukshetra, and Raj Kumar, a resident of Sandhala village in Yamunanagar district. </p><p style=”text-align: justify; “>SP (Operations) Ravi Kumar said a scrap dealer, Sanjeev Kumar, alias Kali, a resident of Malout, used to purchase the stolen vehicles and further sell these.
