49 New Midi Non-AC Buses for Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has purchased 49 Nos. Midi Buses to strengthen the CTU fleet as well as to strengthen the city bus services. Buses were flagged off by Kirron Kher MP Chandigarh in the presence of Mayor Chandigarh Arun Sood and CTU staff at ISBT, Sector 43, Chandigarh.


With the addition of these buses, the total fleet strength will goes up from 482 to 531. The Buses have been purchased keeping in view the increase congestion of traffic and to meet the increasing demand for Public Transport. These buses are being deployed on the routes which are passing through internal roads of the sectors to decongest the traffic and on routes which were closed earlier and there is public demand to open those route such as Route No.19A (Manimajra Town to ISBT-43), 28C (Maloya to Mansa Devi), 32A (Palsora to Mansa Devi), 32 (ISBT, Sector-17 to Dera Bassi), 28/28A (ISBT, Sector-43 to ISBT-43 via Dhanas, Sarangpur), 30B (ISBT, Sector-43 to Sector-4 Panchkula), 2F ( PGI to Sector-20 Panchkula), 211 (PGI to Cantonment). Besides, the service of following routes will be strengthened by adding more buses:-

1. Route No.22 (ISBT, Sector-43 to IT Park)

2. Route No.241 (ISBT-43 to Mansa Devi)

3. Route No.242 (PGI to Landran)

4. Route No.39 (PGI to Mohali, Phase –XI)

5. Route No.5A/5C (Ram Darbar to Ram Darbar)

These buses are fitted with electronics gadgets i.e. GPS, CCTV, Vehicle Health Monitoring parameters, Speed limiting device, front and rear side LED destination boards, Electro pneumatically controlled passenger doors etc. These gadgets shall help in automatic vehicle location and enhanced security feature by CCTV. There is passenger information display penal as well as announcement system for facilitation of public. There is a space for wheel chair, anchor arrangement in the buses and greater gangway width for ease of standing passengers.
