Two day Workshop on “Good Touch Bad Touch” at DPS World School, Zirakpur

Zirakpur: DPS World School, Zirakpur organized a two day Workshop on “Good Touch Bad Touch” as a part of its endeavour to sensitise its students about certain issues which may compromise their safety and security. In this modern era, when the society has become such a vulnerable place for children it becomes our duty to train our children about how they should deal with certain situations.

Keeping this aim in mind and contributing towards this social cause, the Student Counsellor, Mrs. Puja Vats, organized and conducted an interactive workshop on GOOD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH for students of Grade I – VII. The aim of the workshop was to enable the young children to understand the difference between GOOD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH and how to keep themselves safe and secure.

The students were shown the award-winning video, KOMAL, which outlined the following issues:

· How to differentiate between GOOD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH.

· Four personal zones on one’s body.

· The Five alerts namely- SEE ALERT, TALK ALERT, TOUCH ALERT, HOLD ALERT, and ALONE ALERT.

· What should a child do if he/she is caught in such a situation.

There was a quiz at the end to assess the students’ understanding of the concept of GOOD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH and the five alerts wherein different situations were created and the students were asked to categorize them as an ‘alert’ situation or an ‘alright’ situation.

The Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Nagranee felt it was the need of the hour that the children are sensitized about such issues so that they can bring it to their parents’ notice. This was a confidence building measure wherein the children develop a sense of “right” or “wrong” and are not hesitant in talking about this issue.
