The month long Yoga training camp started at the Panjab University (PU) Cricket Ground. The Yoga training camp would continue till June 21, 2016. The Yoga training camp is being conducted by the Directorate of Sports, PU.
The entry is open for the public at the training camp. The participants would be trained in the camp as a run up to the International Yoga Day Celebration in which the Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi will lead the celebrations in Chandigarh on June 21, 2016. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, Registrar Col GS Chadha (Retd), Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Prof Navdeep Goyal, NSS Coordinator Prof Yogaraj Angrish, Directorate of Sports Dr. Parminder Singh, Wardens, PU administrative officers participated in the Yoga camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Grover informed that the yoga training camp is like an outreach programme of the Directorate of Sports, PU. “It is to encourage the general public to come and learn yoga under the supervision of experts in a scientific manner, so that if you adopt such exercises and do it as often as you can. It would lead to healthier and enlightened life. It is an opportunity to learn something. The members of the public can come to this camp to learn yoga and are not enjoined to participate on the June 21 event when the Prime Minister would be here to lead such a practice along with large number of participants from the city. So please come, there is no compulsion as often as you can come and on a day of your convenience and use it as an opportunity to learn something which would let you have a healthier and better life”, Prof Grover added.
PU Spokesperson informed that no registration is required for participating in the month long training camp. The participants are not required to bring yoga mat as it would be provided at the training camp venue. However, the registration is required for the participation in the International Yoga Day celebrations, he further added.
