Chandigarh: In continuation of the triggering activities carried out on 19th April, 2016, where 14 wards were declared Open Defecation Free. Quarterly intensive community triggering was conducted on 22nd July 2016 between 5:00 A.M to 8:00 A.M, for the remaining 12 wards i.e. 5,6,8,11,12,19,20,22,23,24,25 and 26, by the 12 teams comprising of officials of MOH wing, Engineering wing and Self Help Groups.
During this drive, the team members made sincere efforts to mobilized people to avoid open defecation and to use toilets. The targeted community members were also apprised of the adverse effects of Oral fecal route, the communicable diseases eg. Diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, polio, trachoma and also the stunted growth in children. They were also warned about the environmental pollution (ground, air and water) which open defecation may cause.
